Happy almost Thanksgiving! I love this time of year. I love the food (so much pie!), spending time with loved ones and taking a conscious moment to be grateful for my life.
As always, I am SO grateful for you - yes, you! I couldn’t do this self-care work if people like you weren’t interested in the power of caring for themselves. Thank you for showing up and believing in a world where all people can take care of themselves.
In celebration of care, here are a few self-care resources that I’ve been loving lately (don’t you just love a recommendations list? They always makes me so happy!). As always, I don’t get any kind of kick-back for what I endorse. I just recommend what helps me!
My friend Harper just started an awesome new business making subscription creativity boxes. These beautifully curated boxes will help you create and connect with the ones you love most this season. Listen to our podcast together to learn more about why we need creativity more than ever right now (especially when you need to solve a big problem!). Bonus! As a reader of this newsletter, you’ll receive a 25% discount if you enter in coupon code: BeautifulLife while checking out.
This podcast series has been so helpful for me in understanding the construction of whiteness in our culture and the many subtle and overt ways white people avoid looking at whiteness. Particularly, this episode about violence enacted against the Dakota people in the Civil War-era has been poignant for me this week as I ponder the true origins of the Thanksgiving story.
I know we all have Thanksgiving cooking on the mind this week, but once you’re through the leftovers, try this recipe and this recipe (both easy and delicious) from 101 Cookbooks. Healthy, delicious food eaten on a scheduler is my favorite way derail total meltdown holiday eating.
Reading list! I just finished this gorgeous novel, this important parenting book and I am almost done with this profilic examination about race (also the first book in our Beautiful Life Collective book club). I’m about to start this novel and this other recommended parenting book.
What’s inspiring your self-care these days? I’d love to know!
One more thing! This Friday, I’ll be sharing a very important self-care resource being offered by two of my favorite people. Make sure to open my special edition newsletter to find out more!
With that, I wish you a holiday filled with joy and care…
